The Marylebone Cricket Club ( MCC ) Committee has written to its members to tell them there will be no full or partial refunds of their annual membership fees this year. The coronavirus pandemic has. Earlier this year the MCC introduced a new Code of Conduct during its Annual General Meeting. Any abusive, discriminatory or inappropriate behaviour is now considered a breach of the club’s rules. According to the MCC internal code of conduct, the member in question could face expulsion or suspension from the club, which currently has an 18-year waiting list.


It is believed to be the first time a member has been thrown out of the Lord’s pavilion as a result of misconduct. MCC has been approached for comment.

Any conduct demonstrating a failure to show respect, including abusive, discriminatory or inappropriate behaviour or language, will be considered a breach of the rules of the club and render a Member liable to expulsion or suspension. The Member must submit a Suspension Request within four (weeks) of incurring the medical condition, and provide a supporting medical certificate.

Suspensions will only be granted for the time specified in the medical certificate. In the case that a Medical Suspension is approved the suspension will be backdated. Refunds are not available for Medical Suspensions.


If you are experiencing financial hardship and have been a financial member of TUH for at least six months, we may allow you to suspend your membership for a minimum period of one month to a maximum period of twelve months. Suspension will be approved for an initial period of six months with an option to extend to a maximum period of twelve months. Multiple suspensions are allowe however.
