Calling in sick for a job interview reddit

Just say you need time off. Yes, they may wonder about it. I had the same thing happen, sent in my resume to a company on a Friday evening and got a call Monday afternoon for an interview the very next day at pm. A few years back we advertised for a job developing a cancer bio marker.


We got an interesting CV from a guy that worked in DNA forensics, while the details were lacking it was a interesting enough CV to get him in for an interview.

Once there and the pleasantries were out of the way the interview went as such. Looking for a new job while being already employed makes you a more desirable candidate but the process is quiet difficult to organize. If we’re talking about taking a sick day for arranging an interview , there’re several points of view here. Your current employer does not own you, and contrary to what they want you to believe, you owe them nothing. You have to call in sick at your job.

Play with your pets. If you have a minor cold or are getting past the worst of your illness, then going to the interview is a viable option. I got the job so it all worked out for me. However, calling in sick to reschedule is the way to go, if possible. I would call in sick.

Your boss is likely to assume that you’re just trying to extend your time off, or recovering from a heavy weekend. Avoid pulling a sickie right in the middle of a particularly tricky period at work.

My only option would be to call in sick. I spoke to a few people about what to do and everyone advised me to call in sick the following day for the interview. So I di then attended the interview and proceeded to not get the job.


I went back to work today and was told by a more senior member of staff that they knew I’d had an interview and had lied and put myself in a really bad position and loads of other stuff like I was the. Calling in sick the day of an interview is a common option, but one that involves several layers of acting both before and after the event. You shouldn’t need to pretend to cough for three days. To clarify, they wanted a more specific excuse for me to use paid sick leave.


And besides, you may be a lot worse actor or actress than you think. When calling in sick, it’s important to remember that your work for the day doesn’t just disappear because you can’t do it. Either you have to push it back a day, or someone else has to do it, or (worst of all, from your employer’s perspective) the work just doesn’t get done that day and can’t be made up by anyone else.
